- Artifact: merchants of design
Transforming technology into textures. Made out of 100% recycled glass salvaged from discarded TV and computer screens these uniquely sized “micro” mosaics have a velvety patina and an artisan, hand-crafted texture that is more dappled and organic than traditional mass produced tiles.
The recovered glass is crushed, finely powdered, tinted, melted and cast into tiny (6 x 6 x 3 mm) solid glass chips. Blending and the subtle colour variations ensure that no two tile segments are exactly the same. Unlike traditional glass mosaics, sharp edges have been eliminated so the material is smooth and tactile to touch.
This environmentally friendly material is supplied on 300 x 300 mm sheets that join seamlessly to provide a sense of a continuous finish over flat or curved surfaces. The tiles are suitable for all wet areas so are perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, swimming pools and exterior areas.
